All Good Originates from God

Reno Omokri's Book Launch 8James 1:17 says “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. From this verse we know that if anything good comes to you you have God to thank for it. Since this is the case, then every evil thing comes from the enemy. That’s why Jesus said “The thief comes not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy”-John 10:10. When you understand these spiritual principles you will know to acknowledge people for being the conduit through whom God passed “good and perfect” gifts to you, but you give the glory to God. Also, you will know to “mark them who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them”-Romans 16:17. You will do so without holding a grudge because though the offense came through them, it originated from satan. This is the reason why unconsciously men use the term ‘bedevil’ when they want to refer to bad things happening to a person, place or thing. For instance, the Middle East has been bedeviled by violence. Don’t you see that by using that term our ancestors knew that the origin of evil was the devil?

Addicted to God

Reno Omokri's Book Launch 8In today’s world, the word addict or addiction is such a negative word that it brings a stigma when used to describe a person. But before the word addiction had this negative implication, it had and still has a positive implication with God. Addiction means physically and mentally dependent on a particular thing and being unable to stop the dependence without a negative result. This sounds to me like the relationship we should have with God and His Word. Satan has cleverly  changed the usage of the word so that it is tied to drugs. But let us look at the usage of the word ‘addiction’ in the bible. “I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have ADDICTED themselves to the ministry of the saints,)”-1 Corinthians 16:15. If drugs are negative and drug addicts can’t do without it and take it day and night and up getting destroyed, let us even allow his addiction minister to us. God is positive and if we get addicted to Him such that we cannot do without our God and must eat His Word (The Holy Bible) day and night, we will achieve the opposite of the drug addict-we will be saved and we will prosper.

The Good Old Days are Ahead!

Reno Omokri's Book Launch 8One of the strategies demons use to discourage  people during times of crisis is to over romanticize the past, amplify the present crisis and paint a picture of a bleak future. For instance, just a few days after God had delivered Israel by drowning pharaoh and his chariots , they murmured against God saying  “If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death”-Exodus 16:3. But this statement was a lie sold them by the devil. First of, they were slaves in Egypt and neither ate well nor enough. Secondly, God was able to provide for them and indeed He provided manna. Their situation should teach us a lesson. Before coming to God we were slaves to our flesh and though the devil may tell us that those were the good old days we should remember he is a liar. As to whatever crisis you may be going through the thing to do is to remember David’s eyewitness testimony in Psalm 37:25 “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread”.

Lead Life, Don’t Just Accept it.

imageDeath is more universal than life; everyone dies but not everyone lives. Most people accept their life, but is that what God expects of us? In John 10:10 Jesus said “The thief comes not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. How does the thief plan to steal, kill and destroy? It is by taking control of the systems of this world-the media, entertainment and government, so that they can subliminally control our thoughts and our actions from cradle to the grave. How do we get the abundant life that Jesus offers? We get it by LEADING our lives instead of just ACCEPTING  life. We lead life by understanding and harnessing the principles of life that Jesus taught in the Gospels. If you watch a movie, television, or the news and it affects the way you talk, walk, dress, treat others and other aspect of your life style, you are ACCEPTING life. If you read The Bible and it affects the way you talk, walk, dress, treat others and other aspect of your life style, you are LEADING life. Accepting life leads to death.  Leading life leads to life abundant on earth and life eternal after earth. The choice is yours!

Believing is Seeing

Reno Omokri's Book Launch 8The bible says “the whole world is under the control of the evil one”-1 John 5:19. The principle that satan uses to control the world is that ‘seeing is believing’. This is opposed to God’s principle in 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight”. The enemy has taken control of the kingdoms of this world, including movies, advertising, marketing, economics and politics and uses them to flash images before our eyes and when we believe those images we replicate them in our lives which is why for example people want to do what they see in movies. The devil’s plan is to show us and get us to believe so that we can reproduce what we believe. But ask yourself where the devil got this idea from? He stole it from this verse-“Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you BELIEVE, you will SEE the glory of God?”-John 11:40. Seeing is not believing. Believing is seeing. Therefore, if you believe what you see what you see will keep happening in your life. But if you do not believe what you see, but believe what the Word of God says, that is what will happen in your life.

Don’t Hold on to Reality. Hold on to Faith.

pic3Being positive about a negative situation is faith. Being negative about a negative situation is reality. But how many times have we seen reality change before our eyes? It was once a reality that Gaddafi held sway in Libya for 42 years while Mubarak presided over Egypt for 21 years, but that reality was changed by The Arab Spring which was facilitated by facebook and twitter which were invented by young americans who had faith that their idea could change the world. in other words, faith changed reality. Circumstances, mood and conditions or what we call reality are used by God to test our faith. If your faith in God is not greater than your present realities you need to learn the principle that from the day you were born to this day, we have had climate change, political change, atmospheric change, change from analogue to digital and all kinds of change, yet, the only thing that has never changed is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Don’t hold on to reality. Hold on to faith! Pragmatic people (people who deal in realities) often look down on people of faith as being naive because the prison bars that keep them bound are mental rather than metal.

Investments Make you Stable

pic3In Matthew 6:21 Jesus said “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. This verse was made very plain to me today as I read about the bomb that killed people in a city called Kano. Many of those killed are not natives of Kano. There have been many bomb blasts before this incidence. But many non natives find it difficult to leave. Why? Because they have assets and are heavily invested in Kano. So even with the situation, their commitment to Kano is still strong. Their treasure is there, so their heart is as well. Let’s learn  a spiritual lesson from this tragedy. Some believers easily backslide and return to the world because they are not so invested in the Kingdom of God. They have not “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” as Matthew 6:20 says. They have not committed their FINANCES and TIME (the only two ways you can show love for God in this material realm) for the Kingdom of God. Thus, when trials come, it is easy for them to backslide and leave the faith. Both those who are invested in the Kingdom wont leave easily. God bless you as you understand this message and God bless the survivors of Kano and grant the dead rest in Him in Jesus’ name.

Wouldn’t you Rather Get Paid Than Get Even?

imageDon’t conform to the world by letting how people treat you affect how you treat them. Transform the world instead by treating people how you would be treated. That is the only way you can leave your mark on earth. If all you do is treat people the way they treat you, how would anyone know that you passed through earth  when you did not differ from the crowd? Jesus said “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”-Matthew 5:44. This takes courage. People are going to call you weak, because the way of the world is to react and if you don’t react the world thinks you are weak. But it takes more strength to restrain power than to unleash it. And why should you unleash yourself on people who wrong you anyway when God has said “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith The Lord”-Romans 12:19? Vengeance belongs to God and if you take it you have stolen something that did not belong to you. But when you refuse to take vengeance God said “I will repay”. God takes vengeance on the offender and repays the offended. Wouldn’t you rather get paid than get even?

Transformation of Conformation

pic3Romans 12:2 says “be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” because every information or action in this world either transforms or conform you. for instance, no one liked beer the first time they tried it, but the action of continuing in it causes you to acquire the taste hence conforming you to a beer drinker. Information that does not lead to transformation is entertainment. Are you allowing the Word of God entertain you or transform you? You can know and grow or you can groove and lose. God invented language (Genesis 11:7) and sometimes I suspect He plays with words. GROW for instance could mean Get Rich on the Word while LOSE could mean Lose Out Seeking Entertainment. Today there is an unprecedented focus on entertainment to the extent that humanity has crowded out God. Movies, music, football, sports and all such are meant to be an interlude, a side attraction to a life where God is the main attraction but alas we have flipped this order and made God a side attraction to them. Measure the time and passion you give to God and entertain and make a course correction if you love God.

Heart Condition Versus Actions

pic3It is better for you to have your heart right and your actions wrong than for you to have your actions right and your heart wrong.”The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart”-1 Samuel 16:7. In Matthew 7:22-23 Jesus told those who said “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”. These people had the right actions but not the right heart condition. But in Luke 23: 43  Jesus told a man who was a thief  “I tell you with certainty, today you will be with me in Paradise”. Don’t let your actions of going to church and receiving miracles make you complacent. What is the state of your heart? Is your heart right with God? Hear what Jesus told religious people (as opposed to Godly people) “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you”-Matthew 21:31
