Treat Critics as a Flower Treats a Bee
In Genesis 12:1-2 we read “and Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Has the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? has he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it”. From this verse we see that many a times people complain or criticize you not because of the work that you but because of some underlying issue that they cannot admit publicly without betraying their prejudices. It is very important when you face strident criticism from people not to take their criticism at face value, but to find out the underlying cause. In any case, the best response to critics is not to even respond to them. Critics are drawn to great people just as bees are drawn to flowers. Without the flower the bee can’t survive but the flower can survive without the bee. Flowers don’t respond to bees. If you watch flowers, they open up when light comes in the morning and close up when darkness comes at night. As for the bee, the flowers simply ignore them. Open yourself up to light and close yourself up to darkness and you will continue being a flower beautiful enough to attract bees.
